A Gentle First Step Away From Home
Choosing care for your child is a big decision. We created Growing Acorns to be a warm, safe, and welcoming place where children feel loved, valued, and encouraged to grow at their own pace.
This Parents Day Out in Oak Ridge is a great fit for families who do not need full-time daycare but still want consistent care, social time, and early learning two days a week.
Why Families Choose Growing Acorns PDO
Families looking for Parents Day Out in Oak Ridge want more than a place for their child to spend the day. They want peace of mind.
Safe and Secure
Our facility stays locked during program hours. Families sign children in and out each day. Our staff complete CPR and First Aid certification, background checks, and emergency procedure training.
Screen-Free Days
Children spend their day playing, exploring, creating, moving, listening, and connecting with teachers and friends. Instead of TV, tablets, or screens, they enjoy hands-on activities and real interaction.
Faith-Based Care
As a ministry of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, our program includes prayer, Bible stories, songs, and Christian character development in an age-appropriate way.
Programs for Each Age and Stage
Our Parents Day Out in Oak Ridge includes three age-based classes so children can learn, play, and grow in a setting that fits their stage of development.
12 – 24 mo
Seedlings
A play-based class focused on security, trust, sensory play, language exposure, and gross motor development.
2 – 3 years
Sprouts
A balanced class with structure and play, helping children build routines, independence, social skills, and confidence.
4 – 5 years
Saplings
A preschool-style class focused on kindergarten readiness, early learning, social-emotional growth, and cooperative play.
What a Day Looks Like
Because children feel more secure with routine, each day follows a simple, predictable rhythm. Children enjoy free play, circle time, hands-on activities, snacks, outdoor or gross motor play, Bible time, lunch, and rest or quiet time.
Younger children have more play-based routines. Meanwhile, older preschoolers enjoy more structured learning opportunities. If you are looking for a Parents Day Out in Oak Ridge or its surrounding area that balances routine, learning, and room to be little, Growing Acorns was created with that in mind.
Faith-Based Learning and Preschool Readiness
Growing Acorns PDO uses Pathways for Preschool from Bob Jones University Press as the foundation for classroom learning. Teachers introduce children to early academic skills through songs, crafts, hands-on activities, guided play, and age-appropriate lessons.
Faith is woven into the day through prayer, Bible lessons, songs, and simple biblical truths. Our goal is to help children know they are loved by God while building confidence, kindness, independence, and a strong foundation for future learning.
